Body of Pa. firefighter found in N.C. lake
LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) -- The body of a Lancaster County firefighter missing in a North Carolina lake since Jan. 1 has been found, authorities said.
Steven Kish, 30, apparently fell into Lake Norman after stepping onto the deck of a boat to smoke a cigarette. Kish had been boating with a brother and friends.
His body was found about 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The water temperature when he disappeared was about 50 degrees, authorities said.
"This brings closure to his friends, the fire company and his family," Chief Larry Martin of the Liberty Fire Co. in New Holland, where Kish volunteered, said Saturday from the lake. "It means a lot."
Rescuers from Lancaster County went to North Carolina to help with the search.
Kish owned a house in nearby Mooresville, N.C.
