Show celebrates work of area women artists



HOWLAND -- The YWCA of Youngstown's "Women Artists: A Celebration" art show, a display of 150 pieces of art created by local, regional and national women artists, is open for public viewing until Feb. 12 at the Trumbull Branch of The Butler Institute of American Art, 9350 E. Market St.
The show is an opportunity for the artists to gain recognition for their paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, fiber, ceramic and metal works.
Lynnda Arrasmith, curator/registrar at the Canton Museum of Art, served as juror for the show.
Special evening
A patrons party will be open to the public from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday featuring live music and hors d'oeuvres. Approximately $1,000 in merit prizes will be awarded, and special recognition will be given to Canfield artist Kay Wilson, who will be showing a retrospective of her work.
