Police: Drugs were confiscated in school zone

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police said they confiscated suspected marijuana, suspected Ecstasy tablets, two firearms and more than $9,000 cash in a raid at a home within the 1,000-foot drug-free school zone around Wilson High School.
Members of the Youngstown Vice Squad, armed with a search warrant, went to the home of Oliver Hargrove, 38, 608 E. Indianola Ave., around 4:40 p.m. Friday.
They said they found Hargrove and a second man in the kitchen, along with 22 small plastic bags of suspected marijuana on the kitchen table. They also found $4,541 in cash in Hargrove's pockets.
A further search of the house turned up nine more small plastic bags of suspected marijuana, 14 suspected Ecstasy tablets, two digital scales and $4,700 cash in one bedroom, police said.
Police said they found a loaded .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun under the mattress and a loaded assault-style rifle under the bed in the same room.
Hargrove told police he owned the weapons, the marijuana and the cash, adding that he also admitted knowing that his residence is within the drug-free school zone around Wilson High School.
Hargrove was in Mahoning County jail on a charge of trafficking in marijuana.
