Hadzovic's 15 lead Howland to OT victory



Wilson defeated Chaney, 83-78; Canfield cruised past Struthers.
POLAND -- Dario Hadzovic had a game-high 15 points, including four in overtime, as Howland outscored Poland 15-8 in the extra session to hand the Bulldogs a 52-45 defeat in a Metro Athletic Conference game on Friday.
The Tigers made just one of their first 16 3-pointers before Mike Johnson's game-tying shot with 30 seconds left forced overtime.
Jared Bartholomew scored five of his seven points in overtime -- all at the free throw line -- and Nathan Cope had four of his 11 points in the extra session.
Dan Bennett had eight points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (4-7, 0-4) while Chris Lovell had nine points and four assists.
Canfield 61, Struthers 39
CANFIELD -- Mike Rounsavall and Joe Carbon evenly split 22 points as the Cardinals (6-5, 1-3 MAC) posted their first league win.
Rounsavall grabbed 10 rebounds and Kyle Schuchler passed out three assists.
For the Wildcats (6-5, 0-3), Matt Kukura and Mike Duponty each scored 10 points.
Wilson 83, Chaney 78
YOUNGSTOWN -- After losing to Chaney 91-79 on Jan. 3, Wilson rebounded for its first Steel Valley Conference win.
William Johnson collected 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Redmen (5-8, 1-2).
Johnson scored nine points in the second quarter when Wilson put up 26 points to take a 40-34 lead. Justin Maxwell added 18 points and Keith Tubbs had 15.
Dominique Peake scored 14 of his 26 points in a 28-point fourth quarter for Chaney (3-10, 1-3). Kory Jackson had 27 points, Antonio Fitzgerald had 14 points and John Lard had eight rebounds for the Cowboys.
Rayen 76, Vision Quest 62
YOUNGSTOWN -- E.J. Hines had 13 points, six rebounds and four assists for Rayen, which took a 38-16 halftime lead.
Justin Queener had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers (2-9), while Dustin Bennett had 10 points and six rebounds.
Sharef Brown had 37 points, nine rebounds and four steals for Vision Quest (4-10).
Warren JFK 67, Beaver Local 48
LISBON -- Tashawn Walker had 13 points and Marc Rossi added 11 for Warren JFK, which used a 25-8 first quarter advantage to take control.
Ethan Russel had 18 points for the Beavers (0-13).
Ledgemont 68,Youngstown Christian 62
YOUNGSTOWN -- John Davidson's 3-point goal with 1:34 remaining gave Ledgemont a five-point lead that the Redskins built on via the foul line in the East Suburban Conference game.
Youngstown Christian battled back from a 49-40 deficit and led 53-52 before Davidson's goal.
Mark O'Donnell finished with a game-high 22 points for Ledgemont.
Aaron Agresta had 16 points and four steals while Ed Gonda had 13 points and Dom Vitullo added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony LaGamba had seven steals.
West Branch 65, Minerva 53
MINERVA -- The Warriors trailed 44-42 after three quarters but ended on a 23-9 run.
Shane Young led the Warriors (8-3, 5-3 NBC) with 32 points and 13 rebounds.
Kyle Rockwell scored 17 points and Brandon McMillen had 10 points for the Warriors.
Akron Springfield 56, Southeast 50
AKRON -- Derek Steele and Micah Herndon scored 15 points apiece for the Pirates (6-6, 5-3 Portage Trail Conference).
Alex Blake added 10 points, while Frank Locher had 10 rebounds.
