Group to mark Roe anniversary with vigil



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The New Castle Chapter of People Concerned for the Unborn Child will mark the 33rd anniversary of the Jan. 22, 1973, Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, Roe vs. Wade, at the 20th annual "Light a Candle for Life" anti-abortionist prayer vigil at 7 tonight at Kennedy Square. The vigil will include the lighting of 100 luminaria candles on the square.
A prayer service is planned at 7:45 at First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson St. Prayers will be led by the Rev. John Petrarulo of St. Vitus Church and the Rev. David Robinson of New Life Baptist Church.
Those attending are asked to donated baby items for the Pregnancy Resource Center, Catholic Charities and Children's Advocacy.
The group also is taking a bus trip Monday to participate in the March for Life Rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
