Columbiana Presbyterian church to welcome new pastor Jan. 29



COLUMBIANA -- The Rev. Scott E. Parker of Omaha, Neb., has been named the new pastor of First Presbyterian Church, 28 E. Park Ave., and will begin his duties Jan. 29.
The Rev. Mr. Parker graduated from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D., with a bachelor's degree in English and religion. He served for three years as director of youth and adult education at Avery Presbyterian Church, Bellevue, Neb.
Mr. Parker continued his education at Fuller Theological Seminary from 1991-95 and received a master of divinity degree with a concentration in Christian formation and discipleship.
He served as an associate pastor for discipleship at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Camarillo, Calif. He developed an evangelism ministry, an adult education program, a contemporary worship band and outreach ministry to community youth.
In spring 2002, Mr. Parker and his wife, Elmarie, moved to Florida to start The Walk, a new kind of Presbyterian church focused on those who do not attend church.
Mrs. Parker also is an ordained Presbyterian minister.
Sunday worship is at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. and Sunday school at 9:30.
