Boyfriend is arrested in death of woman

The man was arrested at a gas station in Geneva, Ohio.
NEW YORK (AP) -- The boyfriend of a woman found slain in an exclusive Long Island neighborhood last fall was charged Friday with second-degree murder.
Edgar Sanchez, 34, of Mastic Beach, was arrested last October in Ohio on an outstanding warrant from a prior drunken-driving arrest in Suffolk County. He was being held without bail while detectives investigated the slaying of 24-year-old Elisabeth Parisi, also of Mastic Beach.
Detective Lt. Dennis Farrell, commander of the Nassau County police homicide squad, declined Friday to detail how Parisi, the mother of two young children, was killed. He said the case was being referred to a Nassau County grand jury, and additional charges were possible.
The woman's body was found in October by a passer-by in the village of Sands Point, about 50 miles from her Mastic Beach home in neighboring Suffolk County.
When she was found, Parisi was wearing a shirt featuring a cartoon picture of a couple clutching a mended broken heart along with the words, "love is ... patching things up."
Arrested in Ohio
Sanchez was arrested at a gas station in Geneva, Ohio, about 44 miles east of Cleveland, Farrell said. The victim's car was recovered in Highland Hills, Ohio.
Police have said that Parisi was killed somewhere else and then dumped in Sands Point, one of Long Island's most elite neighborhoods, where million-dollar homes abut the Long Island Sound.
The community, which features some of the most expensive real estate in the country, was the model for East Egg, the setting for F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel "The Great Gatsby."
Sanchez was awaiting arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
