Grant's 41 spark Irish past Chaney for ninth



Ursuline remained undefeated in the SVC with an 80-40 romp.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ursuline senior Tyra Grant poured in 41 points and the Irish rolled past Chaney 80-40 in a Steel Valley Conference game Thursday night.
Ursuline (9-4, 3-0) jumped out to a 25-9 first quarter lead, then held the Cowgirls (4-8, 2-1) scoreless in the third period, outscoring them 27-0.
Chaney was led by Jamie Soos, Kalyla Griffin and Brittany Cobb all with eight points.
Warren Harding 50,Wilson 23
WARREN -- Jasmine Stringer scored 11 points to lead Harding (3-9), while Kiara Jenkins added nine, eight of them in the final quarter.
Marcinde North led Wilson with 10 points.
Hubbard 52,LaBrae 37
HUBBARD -- Sheila Drummond scored 18 points and Tressa Scahill added seven for Hubbard (5-7, 3-4), which outscored LaBrae 20-4 in the second quarter to take control in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
Maddie D'Orio had 11 points for LaBrae (5-7, 1-6).
Newton Falls 49,|Girard 34
GIRARD -- Emily Montgomery scored 13 points and Kortni Collins added 10 for Newton Falls, which outscored the Indians 10-1 in the third quarter to take control.
Adrienne Steverson had 10 points for Girard (1-11, 1-6).
Champion 32,Brookfield 28
CHAMPION -- Jaclyn Carpenter tossed in 15 points, including three 3-point goals, to lead Champion (7-5, 5-2). Ashley Haas had seven rebounds and four points for the Golden Flashes.
Kelly Jones had 13 points for Brookfield (10-3, 5-2 TAC).
Wellsville 59,Lisbon 53
WELLSVILLE -- Jasmine Richardson scored 18 points while Erin Mick added 11, including three 3-point goals to lead Wellsville (5-6). P.J. Williams added 10 points.
Both teams made 19 goals but Wellsville had a 16-9 free throw advantage.
Emily Smith and Erica Sims each fired in 23 points to lead Lisbon (10-2), Smith connected on five 3-point goals.
Sharon 75,Mercer 24
SHARON -- The Sharon High girls team limited Mercer to 10 points in the first quarter and 14 in the next three periods, rolling to a victory in the District 10, Region I-AA game Thursday.
Sharon (16-1, 9-0) put the contest away with a 30-9 surge in the second quarter as Janine McDonald scored eight points, Nikki Odem had six and Brittany Castlos had six.
McDonald sparked the Tigers with 18 points. Csatlos added 16, while Aryn Christman and Cara Colci had 10 apiece.
McDonald grabbed six rebounds. Csatlos had eight assists and six steals.
Nicole Redmond and Kristen Jackal led the Mustangs with 10 points apiece.
