Name: Sebo Athletic Center, named after Bob Sebo, a 1958 graduate of Bowling Green State University, and his wife, Karen, who have pledged $3.5 million toward construction of the facility. The Sebos are from Salem.
Location: North end of Doyt Perry Field at BGSU.
Groundbreaking: Dec. 2, 2005.
Projected completion date: February 2007.
Cost: $8.7 million.
Private fundraising goal: $7 million.
Total gifts and pledges for the project to date: $5,218,730.
Number of individual and corporate donors so far: 79.
Architects: Sink, Combs & amp; Dethlefs of Denver and Technicon Design Group of Ottawa, Ohio.
General Contractor: J. L. Judge Construction Services of Detroit.
Other Prime Contractors: Warner Mechanical of Fremont (mechanical system); Marlin White & amp; Son of Fremont (plumbing); Romanoff Electric of Toledo (electrical systems), and Shambaugh & amp; Son of Toledo (fire protection system).
Interesting notes
Milestone: The Sebo Athletic Center will be the first new building constructed by Bowling Green to serve its intercollegiate athletics program in 40 years.
New face of stadium: The unique structure will become the "new front door" of Doyt Perry Stadium when completed.
The facilities: The center will provide modern sports medicine-rehabilitation and strength-training facilities, a pavilion overlooking the playing field, offices for the football coaches, teaching space for coaches and players, video editing room, team meeting rooms and coaches' conference room.
Special ranking: Bowling Green, which offers 18 varsity sports, is one of only 14 schools in the nation that offers NCAA Division I football, hockey and men's and women's basketball. The center will benefit all varsity sports programs and more than 430 student athletes.
