Salem bounces Struthers 49-26



STRUTHERS -- Salem's Sarah Ravelli scored 11 points to key a well-balanced attack for the Quakers, who bounced Struthers, 49-26, in a girls Metro Athletic Conference basketball game.
Ravelli also had five steals while Amanda Thorne added nine points while Kelly Roelen and Zahra Scullion tacked on eight apiece for the Quakers (10-2, 4-1 MAC). Scullion also had nine rebounds and five steals.
Helle Minchin-Skook led Struthers (6-7, 2-3 MAC) with seven points, including two 3-point goals, while Amanda Rouzzo had six points, five rebounds and three steals.
Howland 52, Niles 25
HOWLAND -- The Tigers' defense held the Red Dragons to 12 first-half points and 13 in the second half.
Nine players got into the scoring column for the Tigers (11-3, 3-2) with Ellie Shields sparking the team with 18 points. Alexa Williams added 10.
Niles (5-7, 1-4) was led by Nina Gabrelcik with eight points.
The Tigers had a 38-12 rebounding advantage, with Shields grabbing 11. Leonard pulled down five for the Red Dragons.
