Surreal cereal

Surreal cereal
Love cereal so much you could eat it all day? "The Breakfast Cereal Gourmet" (Andrews McMeel, $14.95), by David Hoffman, brings classic cereals into lunch and dinner menus. The highly unusual nature of these dishes -- and the plethora of vintage ads and cereal tidbits -- will bowl over cereal fanatics. Who else would embrace biscotti made with Honeycomb cereal or tomato gratin topped with Grape Nuts' topping? Still, the sesame crisps made with Rice Krispies and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream could win converts, and the graphics are a hoot. The book is sold online at amazon.com and at Barnes & amp; Noble stores.
Top-notch toffee
Add Elaine's Toffee Co. to the list of excellent mail-order toffees. The candy's buttery crunch is topped with chopped pecans over great-tasting layers of milk, dark or white chocolate. It's $10 per half-pound, $19 per pound by mail-order: elainestoffee.com or (800) 883-3050.
Moroccan flair
All-Clad's tagine dazzles with its looks and delivers the goods with its versatility. The 13-inch-wide aluminum-core stainless-steel base can be used in the oven or on the stove top; the more traditional terra cotta conical cover is for stove-top use only. It's perfect for the slow-cooked Moroccan stews the tagine is made for, but the base -- oven-safe to 400 degrees -- also can be used for casseroles, deep-dish pizzas and braised dishes. It's $200 at Sur La Table stores and by mail: surlatable.com or (800) 243-0852.
