Hearing waived
WARREN -- A cashier and auditor in the city's income tax collection office waived her preliminary hearing Tuesday and was bound over to the Trumbull County grand jury on charges of tampering with records and theft in office. Municipal Judge Terry Ivanchak allowed Melody Byard, 35, of Red Fox Run, to remain free on a $1,000 bond. Byard remains on unpaid leave from her tax office job. She was placed on leave in September, when Thomas Gaffney, city tax administrator, filed a police report saying $30 disappeared from his office in August.
