WASHINGTON -- Omar Williams scored 13 points in 16 minutes, and George Washington closed its non-conference schedule by shutting down Stony Brook's offense for several minutes at the start of each half. The Colonials, 13-1 for the first time since the 1953-54 season, opened the game with a 13-0 run and limited Stony Brook to 40 percent shooting overall. Stony Brook (3-12) missed its first five shots of the game and committed three turnovers before Tre Cunningham's short jumper 4 1/2 minutes in. At the start of the second half, Stony Brook went without a field goal for four minutes.
WOMEN
No. 5 Connecticut 51, No. 3 LSU 48
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Charde Houston had 22 points, including the game-winning free throw with 17 seconds remaining as Connecticut handed LSU its first loss of the season. The Huskies (16-2) were playing their fifth game in 10 days, a stretch that began with an 89-80 loss at top-ranked Tennessee. But they showed no signs of fatigue, putting the Lady Tigers (14-1) on their heels early and holding them to a season-low 48 points. Reigning national player of the year Seimone Augustus finished with 15 points for LSU but had few good looks. Sylvia Fowles, LSU's dominant 6-foot-6 center, had her hands full with two and three UConn defenders, especially Houston. Fowles finished with 12 points and 15 rebounds.
No. 2 Duke 84, Holy Cross 36
WORCESTER, Mass. -- Abby Waner scored 17 points and Wanisha Smith added 15 as Duke rebounded from its lowest point total of the season with an easy victory over Holy Cross. Monique Currie scored 13 points and Alison Bales had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Blue Devils (17-0), who scored 66 points in a win at No. 22 Boston College on Saturday. Brittany Keil scored 12 points for lead Holy Cross (6-10), which has lost five game to ranked teams. It was Duke coach Gail Goestenkors' 350th career win.
No. 6 Maryland 75, Florida State 57
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Crystal Langhorne had 19 rebounds and 12 points, Kristi Toliver scored 16, and Maryland breezed past Florida State. Langhorne recorded her 26th career double-double, most of any active player in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Jade Perry and Laura Harper each scored 11 for the Terrapins (15-2, 2-1).
Virginia 78, No. 18 Virginia Tech 59
BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Lyndra Littles had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead Virginia to a victory over Virginia Tech. The Cavaliers (13-3, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) turned 22 Virginia Tech turnovers into 27 points.
