Boardman girls lose third, 42-36, to Blackhawk



CHIPPEWA, Pa. -- A one-point third quarter doomed Boardman High's girls basketball team in a 42-36 loss to Blackhawk Monday night.
The Spartans (8-3) committed eight turnovers and missed eight shots in the third period. Four of the missed attempts were layups and four 3-point attempts were off the mark.
April Melquist and Courtney Schiffauer led Boardman's attack with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Although Boardman outscored Blackhawk in the fourth quarter, Blackhawk had 12 free throw attempts to Boardman's one.
Although both teams made 15 goals, Blackhawk converted 12 of 19 at the line to Boardman's 5 of 8.
Blackhawk's Chelsea Feltrop had a game-high 16 points.

NORTH CANTON -- Cincinnati Moeller sandwiched 20-point first and fourth quarters around a steady performance in between to post a 67-47 win over Warren Harding Sunday at the Pizza Oven Classic.
Troy Tabler had a game-high 24 points for Moeller, including a 9-for-10 showing at the free throw line, eight of those coming in the fourth quarter. Quinn McDowell chipped in 15 for the Crusaders.
Warren Harding was led by Brian Wright and Roddy Fuller with 11 points each.
