New vendor chosen for garbage bags
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The city is switching its garbage bag vendor. Council recently agreed to pay Frontier Bag Co. of Kansas City, Mo, $44,212 for 250,000 garbage bags. Tammi Gibson, city business administrator, explained the city chose Frontier over the current vendor, All American Poly, because of numerous complaints from residents and store owners about the quality and durability of the bags supplied by the Piscataway, N.J., firm. She said it should take about six weeks to get the new bags, but they won't be available until the current supply is used. The new bags cost $1.30 each.
