Davenport, Packer lead Buckeyes to 62-34 win

It was the fourth time this season OSU has held an opponent to fewer than 40 points.
COLUMBUS (AP) -- Jessica Davenport and No. 8 Ohio State were too much for a young but scrappy Michigan team.
The Buckeyes took care of business with a 62-34 win Sunday over the Wolverines, with Davenport and Marscilla Packer each scoring 15 points.
Ohio State (13-2, 4-1 Big Ten) put the game away during the first eight minutes of the second half, going on a 19-5 run that put them up 42-21. Brandie Hoskins had nine of her 11 points during the run.
The Buckeyes have won four in a row and seven of their last eight games. It was also the fifth time this season that Ohio State has held an opponent to less than 40 points.
Fifth straight loss
Michigan (6-11, 0-5), which has one of the youngest teams in the Big Ten, has lost five straight. The Wolverines missed their first 13 shots of the game and finished shooting 14-of-56 (25 percent).
"We didn't always take the open shots, we made things harder than they had to be and then when Ohio State got it going in the second half, that was the ball game," Michigan coach Cheryl Burnett said.
Katie Dierdorf led the Wolverines with 10 points, the only Michigan player in double figures.
Despite Michigan's poor shooting, the Wolverines held a 14-9 first-half lead before Ohio State went on a 14-2 run with 6:51 remaining to take a 23-16 lead at the break.
"Michigan had a week off and is a young team that played very well. We had to adjust as a veteran team," Ohio State coach Jim Foster said.
Debbie Merrill added 10 points for Ohio State, which shot 24-of-49 from the floor (49 percent). Merrill said the first few minutes of the game were frustrating.
"It felt like we couldn't get the flow offensively," she said. "After the first half we huddled and just said we need to box out and play hard."
