Volunteers sought for township park work

NORTH LIMA -- The Beaver Township Park Board is looking to create a volunteer support group that would help township officials with various tasks at the township's parks.
Scott Conway, park board chairman, said volunteers are needed to help plant flowers, pick up trash and assist with other projects. He said the group, Friends of the Park, would meet on a monthly basis.
"We're working more and more at the township parks, and we need some helping hands," Conway said.
"It's getting to be a lot for the board to handle. We would appreciate any help we could get."
In other matters, the township trustees have appointed Larry Kerr to the park board effective today. Park board members are appointed to serve one-year terms. Kerr replaces Janyne Smith, who has resigned from the board for personal reasons.
