Tax preparers to provide free assistance



WARREN -- The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will feature free tax preparation assistance by American Association of Retired Persons income tax preparers at its main library, 444 Mahoning Ave., and at three branches.
Service will be available as follows:
U9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays beginning Feb. 3 in main library's second floor Thomas Meeting Room.
U9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Feb. 2 at the Howland Branch, 9095 E. Market St.
U9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fridays beginning Feb. 3 at the Liberty Branch, 415 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.
U10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Feb. 7 at the Cortland Branch (Viets Memorial Library), 212 N. High St.
No appointment is needed at the Warren, Howland and Liberty locations, but those planning to seek tax assistance at the Cortland Branch should call (330) 638-6335 for an appointment. Electronic filing is available at the Howland Branch.
The service is targeted to low-income people, with special attention to those over age 60. Those seeking assistance must bring a copy of their 2004 tax return. A valid photo identification is required.
