Online programs h elp students prepare to enter the work force
Students can find information on everything from careers to paying for college.
GIRARD -- The JA Student Center at www.ja.org(Ok) is an online navigational tool geared to help students become ready for the work force.
Micheleok Merkelok, senior program manager for Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley Inc., said the program is designed to help students search for colleges based on their wants and needs, seek out financial aid to pay for college, learn how to handle their money, explore careers in which they have an interest and even get tips on how to start a business of their own.
Programs
Specific programs are:
UJA Career Center: Offers information and resources on job industries, specific careers and even individual occupations.
UJA Entrepreneur Center: Offers help to students wanting to start their own businesses. Includes an online mentor.
UJA Personal Finance Center: Provides a simulation that helps students develop and hone their finance skills.
UJA Student Education Center: Allows students to sort, simplify and search colleges based on features and benefits they want in an institution of higher learning.
UJA Financial Aid Center: Provides information on college loans, scholarships and other types of financial aid, including online applications.
UJA Ethics Center: Offers lessons illustrating ethical business and personal behavior.
Junior Achievement of the Mahoning Valley provides programs for more than 8,000 children in kindergarten through the 12th grade in Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties.
