Jones paces Ursuline past Wilson; Mooney wins



YOUNGSTOWN -- Jerome Jones scored 23 points and Lance Randall added 10 at the Ursuline High boys basketball team posted a 54-26 victory over Woodrow Wilson Friday in a Steel Valley Conference game.
Jones, who scored 10 of his points in the first quarter, grabbed 12 of the Irish's 49 rebounds. D'Aundray Brown also pulled down 12 rebounds.
William Johnson paced the Redmen with eight points and Keith Tubbs grabbed six of Wilson's 23 rebounds.
Mooney 86, Beaver Local 51
LISBON -- After spotting Beaver Local a 2-0 lead, Mooney went on a 20-0 run and never looked back in the SVC game.
Full-court pressure, defensive rebounds and transition points helped Mooney's cause.
Jaron Howell had 19 points, Danny Thomas 14 and L.J. Sutton 12 for the Cardinals (5-3, 2-0). Sutton also had 10 of Mooney's 34 rebounds. Nate Burney had six assists for the winners.

AUSTINTOWN -- Kosta Koufos, 7-1 junior center, scored 33 points for the Golden Eagles, who held a commanding 46-24 lead at intermission.
Mark Moore chipped in with 13 points and Nate West finished with 11.
James Wallace led the Falcons (1-9, 0-4) with 28 points.
Jackson 47, Boardman 45
MASSILLON -- A late charge by Boardman in the fourth quarter (15-8) just fell short in the Federal League game. Jon Kocon paced the Spartans (5-6, 0-4) with 10 points.
Mark Young sparked Jackson (4-5, 1-3) with 18 points. Curtis Murphy added 10.
Ashtabula Sts. John & amp; Paul 43, Youngstown Christian 37
ASHTABULA -- Van Robison scored 15 points and Keith Berrier added 10 to lead SJP, which outscored the Eagles 21-13 in the second half.
Dom Vitullo led the Eagles with nine points.
