POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Jan. 7
Theft: A man left a McQuaid's station, 131 N. State St., without paying for $33 worth of gasoline.
Jan. 8
Burglary: A woman in the 40 block of West Liberty Street found her front door damaged. A 32-inch TV, CD player, air-conditioning unit and family pictures were stolen, for a loss of $235.
Jan. 9
Arrest: A 30-year-old Niles woman was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after her former boyfriend said she refused to leave his residence.
Jan. 10
Theft: Police picked up a 17-year-old Girard boy on a theft charge after cigarette lighters were stolen from Dollar General, 501 Church Hill Road, and they say he confessed the crime. Another Girard boy, also 17, fled and was being sought, police said.
Bad checks: An employee at Outlet Showcase, 600 N. State St., reported a Youngstown man, 41, presented two bad checks to buy $265 worth of items.
Criminal damaging: A man in the 300 block of Indiana Avenue found the passenger-side window in his mother's vehicle shattered, likely by a BB.

Jan. 7
Theft: A motorist left a Shell station, 204 W. Liberty St., without paying for gasoline.
Jan. 8
Criminal damaging: A woman in the 300 block of North Main Street noticed damage to her mother's vehicle.
Jan. 9
Criminal mischief: A man in the 300 block of Grandview Avenue discovered a rear porch window and a basement window broken, probably shot with BBs.
Jan. 10
Theft: A Mackey Street man told police a juvenile who asked to use the victim's phone fled before the resident discovered money missing.
Jan. 11
Theft: A man reported the theft of a package from his porch in the 100 block of Myron Street.
LIBERTY
Jan. 6
Misuse of a credit card/forgery: After discovering his wallet lost or stolen, a Youngstown man found out his Discover card was used at Auto Zone, 3109 Belmont Ave., and at a BP station, 2703 Belmont. At least $85 worth of charges were made.
Assault/theft: A Brookfield girl, 12, reported another girl and two other people punched her in the face and struck her in the head with a candle at a Tuttle Drive residence before the girl took the victim's cellular phone. The 12-year-old had a red mark near her left eye.
Theft/criminal damage: A woman in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue reported damage to her car's dashboard and that a $300 AM-FM-CD player had been removed.
Robbery: An employee at Pizza Joe's, 642 Gypsy Lane, told police a man in his 30s grabbeda cash register and took an undisclosed amount of money.
Jan. 7
Criminal trespass: Officers cited a Youngstown man, 49, on a criminal-trespass charge after a worker at Miller's Towing, 4100 Belmont Ave., said he found someone asleep in a vehicle.
Stolen property: A Columbiana man reported a business check was removed from his work truck and written for $220 before being passed at Sky Bank, 3499 Belmont Ave.
Jan. 8
Domestic violence: After responding to a hang-up 911 call at a home in the 3100 block of Fifth Avenue, police took into custody a 30-year-old man there and charged him with domestic violence. A woman alleged he struck her several times with a cue stick; her injuries were bruises on her arms.
Assault: A Niles woman told police her estranged boyfriend, 32, struck her at a residence in the 4200 block of Logan Gate Road. She had a bump on her head.
Jan. 9
Auto theft: An employee at The Vindicator, 107 Vindicator Square, reported a 1997 GMC Sonoma was removed from a rear parking lot at Aim Nationalease, 1500 Trumbull Ave.
Theft: A worker at the Hampton Inn, 4400 Belmont Ave., discovered $45 and a debit card missing from her wallet.
Jan. 10
Aggravated menacing: Police arrested a 35-year-old Girard man near Belmont Avenue and Tibbetts-Wick Road on an aggravated-menacing charge. A James Lane man told police a neighbor left messages on his wife's voice mail threatening to beat him up and shoot him.
Jan. 11
Assault: A woman in the 3000 block of Frederick Street alleged her roommate punched her in the face and chest. She had no visible injuries.
Jan. 12
Arrest: After determining a car had a stolen license plate, officers arrested a 27-year-old Youngstown man in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue. He was charged with receiving stolen property (license plate), a felony, driving under suspension and having a fictitious license plate.
