Pollis to plead guilty in felonies
WARREN -- A 38-year-old man who showed up unannounced at the Howland police chief's house in May is expected to plead guilty to three felony charges later this month and be sentenced to up to eight years in prison, the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office said.
Paul E. Pollis of Southwind Drive Northeast is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, improper handling of a firearm and illegal possession of a handgun after going to Police Chief Paul Monroe's home on May 30.
Pollis, who gave the chief a false name, asked if Monroe knew where Pollis' wife was. The chief said he noticed a handgun between the driver's seat and center console of Pollis' vehicle, a police report says.
Pollis had reported his wife, Charlotte Nagi-Pollis, missing in March 1994. At the time the couple lived in Girard. Nagi-Pollis has not been found.
Pollis appeared Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court before Judge Peter Kontos. His case was continued until Jan. 23, when he is expected to agree to a plea, said Chris Becker, an assistant county prosecutor.
