New Middletown council welcomes 2 new members

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Two new members have taken their seats on village council.
Harry Kale of Woodland Drive served as village zoning inspector for several years. Curt Massey of Sandy Court has served as a New Middletown firefighter and has worked on the street department. He also serves on the Springfield Township Fire Department. Both men were unopposed for their seats. They replace Richard DeBucci and Ruth Miller, who did not seek re-election.
At council's meeting Monday, council members learned that Ohlin and Woodland drives are at the top of the list for paving this year. Mayor Robert Carson told council the two roads are in the worst shape of any in the village. He said bids will be sought for the paving and other streets may be added to the list if the money is available.
Council accepted Brent Heffinger as a full-time police officer. He has been on probationary status for more than one year. There is no change in wages or benefits.
Solicitor Jeffrey Heintz reported that resident Donna Timcisko has voluntarily dismissed her lawsuit against the village. The suit, filed in 2001, sought damages from the village for basement flooding at Timcisko's Ohlin Drive home.
