Lowellville tops Trojans in Inter-County contest
South Range, McDonald and Springfield also won league games.
LOWELLVILLE -- Junior guard Kristen Pallozzi scored a season-high 18 points Monday to lead the Lowellville High girls basketball team over Sebring 61-41 in an Inter-County League game.
Pallozzi, who scored four 3-pointers, pulled down eight rebounds for the Rockets (5-4, 3-1).
Point-guard Kaitlin McCarthy added 13 points and 10 assists. Jacque Schrader hit for 11 points and Ali Grapevine had 10 in a balanced attack.
Ashley Amabeli paced the Trojans with 19 points.
South Range 59, Jackson-Milton 33
NORTH JACKSON -- Cindy Schuler scored 16 points and Autumn Carter added 12 to lead South Range, which took a 20-2 first-quarter lead.
Carrie Fiol scored eight points for the Bluejays.
McDonald 80, Western Reserve 38
McDONALD -- Ashleigh Tondo, Emily Dolsak and Amy Dolsak combined for 59 points as unbeaten McDonald improved (10-0, 4-0 ICL).
Tondo paced the Blue Devils with 22 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.
Emily Dolsak added 21 points and Amy Dolsak finished with 15.
Alex Rathburn paced Western Reserve with 17 points and Lainey Kekic had 10.
Springfield 61, Mineral Ridge 31
MINERAL RIDGE -- The Tigers rolled to a 35-15 lead by halftime, then cruised to the Inter-County League victory.
Joanna Dick sparked the Tigers with 15 points and Mindy Ritzler had 11. Abbey Kiger led the Rams with 10 and she grabbed nine rebounds. Heather Reinhart had four assists.
Mooney 45, St. Thomas Aquinas 40
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mooney, ahead 36-27 after three quarters, held on to even its record at 4-4.
Sarah Pelini paced the Cardinals with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Dayna Daltorio and Alex Voytek each had five assists.
Meg Fayen led the Knights with 16 points. Elsie Duplin and Courtney added 10 apiece. Molly McDowell grabbed eight rebounds.
Brookfield 49, Newton Falls 34
NEWTON FALLS -- Kelly Jones scored 19 points for the Warriors (9-2, 3-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Morgan Bonekovic scored 15 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked 12 shots while Andrea Gladis had 11 points.
For the Tigers (1-8, 0-5), Emily Montgomery scored 12 points.
Champion 53, Girard 28
GIRARD -- Jaclyn Carpenter scored 16 points as the Golden Flashes improved to 6-3, 4-1 in the TAC.
Elizabeth Ghindia scored 12 points and Erika Stevens had 10.
For Girard (1-9, 1-4), Jenai Brown scored seven points.
