BOYS TOURNAMENTS Harding routs Marietta, 81-47
CANTON -- Roddy Fuller and Damian Eargle each had 16 points and O'dell Eargle added 16 points and nine rebounds as the Warren Harding High boys basketball team defeated Marietta 81-47 in the first round of the Division I tournament at the Canton Civic Center.
Bryan Wright added 13 points, while Keelyn Franklin had nine rebounds for the Raiders (15-6), who will meet top-seeded Canton McKinley at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
McKinley is the defending Division I state champions.
Dan Cawley led Marietta with 16 points.
Gates Mills Hawken 70, Newton Falls 43
LAKELAND -- Newton Falls seniors Mike Giuliano and Mike Pelyak combined for 24 points in their last high school game in the Division III boys sectional at Lakeland Community College.
Giuliano made 8 of 8 free throws toward his 14 points, while Pelyak added 10 points for the Tigers (8-13). Newton Falls was within eight points heading into the fourth quarter before the Hawks pulled away.
Newton Falls was 15 of 22 from the line, but Hawken more than doubled the Tigers' goal output, 30-13.
