INDIANAPOLIS -- YSU junior guard Quin Humphrey was named first team All-Horizon League while junior guard Keston Roberts was named to the All-Newcomer Team.
Humphrey is the first Penguin to be named to any all-league team since YSU joined the conference prior to the 2001-02 season. He is also the first all-league selection since Craig Haese in 2000-01, who was named to the Mid-Continent Conference's first-team.
"I'm proud of all of our players and the effort they have put forth over the course of a long season," said YSU coach Jerry Slocum. "Quin has had a model season for us and has worked extremely hard. Keston is a work in progress, but I am excited about the award for him because his game is only going to get better. Both of these individuals are very deserving of the honors."
Joining Humphrey on the first team were Player of the Year Brandon Polk of Butler, Blake Schilb of Loyola, Joah Tucker from UW-Milwaukee and DaShaun Wood of Wright State.
Brandon Cotton of Detroit, Justin Bowen of UIC, Ryan Evanochko of UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee's Adrian Tigert and Boo Davis were named to the second team.
Roberts was joined by Newcomer of the Year Othyus Jeffers from UIC, Josh Mayo from UIC, Leon Young of Loyola and Mike Schachtner of UW-Green Bay.
Humphrey is just the third player in conference history to lead the league in scoring and rebounding during league play in the same season. The Ellenwood, Ga., native finished the regular season averaging 19.1 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game.
Humphrey trails Schilb by one point in overall points (517-516). Roberts leads all newcomers in scoring at 14.4 points per game and ranks 10th overall in the league. He started all 27 games for YSU in his first season and ranks second on the team in scoring, 3-pointers and free-throw percentage.

O'Halloran honored
BOARDMAN -- Boardman swimming coach Terry O'Halloran was honored recently with the Ohio High School Swimming Coaches Association's Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award.
The award is given to one boys coach and one girls coach in Ohio each year who best exemplifies those qualities. Coaches from across the state vote on the award at the beginning of the swimming season.
"I think the biggest thing is when you're recognized by your peers for being a fair player and someone who treats other coaches the right way and kids the right way, it's pretty important and pretty special," said O'Halloran. "At the same time, it's very humbling because there are a lot of great coaches around Ohio."
