Rocks observe 60th anniversary at Mass, reception



XSTRUTHERS -- Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T. Rock, 225 Iroquois St., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Feb. 19 by attending the 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Boardman.
Afterward they were honored during a reception at the church banquet hall.
Invitations for the events were issued by the couple's family, Kenneth J. and Mary Rock of Apollo, Pa., and Eugene M. Rock of Youngstown. The couple have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The former Margaret Ladd and Mr. Rock were united in marriage Feb. 23, 1946, at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown. They are members of St. Mary's in Boardman and St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.
Mrs. Rock, a homemaker, worked in aircraft production at General Fireproofing Co. in Youngstown during World War II.
Mr. Rock was a field lineman with the U.S. Army 116th Signal Radio Intelligence from 1942 to 1945 in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He received several medals including four Bronze Stars. He retired in 1981 from Western Electric Co. after 40 years of service as an installer. He is a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and VFW Post 3538.
