YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services is awarding federal law enforcement grants to two local departments.
The Springfield Township Police Department will receive $14,000 for communications equipment, and Goshen Township Police Department will receive $19,598 for an information-sharing network.
Democratic posts
BOARDMAN -- The South County Democrats re-elected Tom Lamb of Boardman as its president.
The group also re-elected Linda Modarelli of Youngstown as its vice president and Linda O'Brien of Boardman as its treasurer. Mike Clim of Campbell, a former South County president, was elected second vice president, a newly created position.
17th and 6th leader
POLAND -- The Democrats of the 17th and 6th Districts elected Andrew Hamady of Poland as its president.
Mark Belinky of Boardman was re-elected secretary-treasurer. Elected first vice president was John Kish of Youngstown, and elected second vice president was Michael O'Hara of Youngstown.
Salem road work
SALEM -- Repair work is scheduled to begin Wednesday on the state Route 14 (West State Street) bridge, just east of state Route 173. Work includes bridge painting and repairs.
Traffic will be maintained using flaggers until the completion date, Aug. 31. ODOT's contractor for this $547,775 project is Apollon Painting Co. Inc. of Cleveland.
Annual health meeting
WARREN -- The Trumbull County General Health District Advisory Council's annual meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 7 at the Trumbull County commissioners' hearing room at the County Administration Building.
The regular monthly meeting of the health board will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the board's offices at 176 Chestnut St.
Driving test scheduling
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ohio State Highway Patrol driver's license exam stations are offering a Web-based scheduling system to schedule road-test appointments. At www.ohiodrivingtest.com, the public can schedule appointments from anywhere in the state.
Westminster remodeling
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College and Sodexho recently unveiled the renovated McGinnis Dining area. The buffet restaurant gives students an alternative to the food court in the McKelvey Campus Center.
The total cost of the renovation, more than $400,000, was provided by Sodexho, which has been operating the dining services at Westminster for 35 years.
The 4,300 square-foot dining area was refurbished with a new ceiling, floor, window treatments and furniture, which includes a combination of booth seating, high-top seating and traditional tables.
