Technology teacher of the year: Alliance man

ALLIANCE -- Bret Gensburg, a teacher in the Alliance City School District, has been named 2006 Ohio Technology Teacher of the Year by eTech Ohio.
Gensburg, who has been teaching only three years, is considered to be a pioneer in technology, inspiring not only his department but also others in his school and county, according to eTech, citing his leadership and dedication to educational technology.
"Bret is a model teacher, not just within our district but for educators across the state," said Stephen Stohla, Alliance superintendent. "Bret qualifies for this honor due to the work, dedication and commitment that he has demonstrated in our schools on a daily basis."
Gensburg continually develops original activities, lessons and files, which he uses with his students, then refines and shares with his colleagues for use with their own students, according to the nomination submitted by his peers.
The award includes $1,500 toward educational technology of his choice.
He received his honor at the recent State Technology Conference in Columbus.
