Schedule of events at Mill Creek MetroParks.
March 1-31: Registration for Children's Summer Vegetable Gardening Program. This program is for children who have completed second grade. Each child will tend a 3-by-10-foot garden throughout the summer at the MetroParks Farm in Canfield. Classes meet 9 -11 a.m. April 29 and June 3. Beginning June 21, children will meet every Wednesday morning through Aug. 23. Final class will be Sept. 30. Scholarships are available. Call (330) 740-7116 to register. March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30: 8:30-10 a.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m., yoga at Fellows Riverside Gardens. The basics of yoga taught by Heidi Suraci. Call (330) 740-7116 for information. Fee: $9 per class.
March 4, 11 and 25: 8:30-10 a.m., yoga at Fellows Riverside Gardens. (See March 2).
March 4: 1-4:30 p.m., the ancient tradition of decorating eggs is practiced throughout Central and Eastern Europe; however, the motifs and colors vary among regions. Participants will create their own eggs in this introductory workshop taught by Mary Soldo. Registration and fee are due at Ford Nature Center by Wednesday. Some materials will be covered by the workshop fee. Fee: $7.50 R, $10 NR.
March 5: 2 p.m., award-winning photographer Michael Witt will have two slide-presentation programs. Experience sunny Florida with images ranging from picturesque lighthouses to basking alligators and relax with a collage of Ohio's colorful spring and summer wildflowers complete with musical accompaniment. Held at Fellows Riverside Gardens.

March 8: 9 a.m., health and wellness walk, meet at MetroParks Bikeway trailhead at MetroParks Farm. Easy rating, 2 or 4 miles.
March 8: 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Fellows Riverside Gardens, Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County, and the Mahoning Valley Landscape and Nursery Association are sponsoring a spring horticulture clinic. The topics will focus on innovative ideas for the green industry. Vendors will display current service products. Call (330) 740-7116 to register. Fee: $40 ($30 MVLNA members).
March 9: 10, 10:45 or 11:30 a.m., 2-year-olds will learn about a deer's life through a story, outdoor exploration (weather permitting), and a variety of creative activities. Call (330) 740-7107 to register.
March 10: 11 a.m.-noon or 1-2 p.m., each preschooler age 3-5 with an adult will decorate a green clay pot and sow seeds that will grow to look like hair. Sprout snacks and a story are planned. Call (330) 740-7116 to register. Fee: $5 R, $7 NR.

March 11: 1:30-3 p.m., to celebrate National Peanut Month, children age 6 and up with their adult companions will learn interesting facts about this important plant, sample delicious nut snacks, and plant a pot of "goobers" to take home. Call (330) 740-7116 to register. Fee: $7 R, $10 NR.
March 12: 2 p.m., "Beat Generation" writer Jack Kerouac was born on this day 84 years ago. Join a hike around Lake Cohasset. Meet at Ford Nature Center, Moderate difficulty with hills and steps, 3 miles.
March 14: 5:30-8 p.m., Lynn Cardwell, a potter whose work often follows a botanical theme, will teach students to construct a ceramic family tree that spans three generations to display on a wall. The work will be glazed, fired and ready for pickup after March 31. Call (330) 740-7116 to register. Fee: $25 R, $32 NR.
March 18: 9 a.m.-3 p.m., join Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens at this year's Saturday Symposium as we celebrate the 115th anniversary of Mill Creek Park. Guest speakers are Denise Wiles Adams, author of "Restoring American Gardens," and Scott Kunst of Ohio House Gardens. Call (330) 740-7116 to register. Fee: $45 ($35 FFRG members), fee includes lunch.
March 18: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Projects Wild and Aquatic Wild are supplementary educational programs for grades K-12. These programs emphasize awareness, appreciation and understanding of wildlife, natural resources and the environment. Open to all educators, the workshop will provide participants with resource and activity guides and instruction for their use. Project Wild materials are provided free by Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife. Registration and fee are due at Ford Nature Center by Saturday. Space is limited. Fee: $10, includes lunch.
March 19: 2 p.m., on this last day of the winter season, we'll look for remnants of winter and signs of the arrival of spring. Meet at Lily Pond parking lot. Easy rating, 2 miles.
March 22: 9 a.m., health and wellness walk, meet at Ford Nature Center. Moderate difficulty, 4 miles.
March 24: 10 a.m. or 12:30 p.m., groundhogs just woke up from their long winter sleep and are busy this time of the year. Preschoolers age 3-5 and their parents will learn about the creatures through a play, story and craft. Preregister at Ford Nature Center. Fee: $2 R, $3 NR.
March 24: 8:30-10 a.m., start your morning with a brisk garden walk. Return to the Garden Cafe to enjoy a light breakfast and learn more about the primrose family. Call (330) 740-7116 to register. Fee: $6 R, $8 NR.
March 25: 10 a.m., Preschool Nature Hour: Busy Groundhogs. (See March 24).
March 26: 2 p.m., the hike is dedicated to learning more about ticks and mites. Meet at Ford Nature Center. Easy rating, 2 miles.
March 28: 7 p.m., Larry Rosche, author of "Birds of the Cleveland Region," is considered to be one of Ohio's foremost bird experts. He will present "Birds of Northeast Ohio" at the monthly meeting of Audubon Society Mahoning Valley. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m.; program is at the MetroParks Farm.
March 29: 6:30-8:30 p.m., Ely Pugh will prepare recipes using the freshest ingredients to satisfy the eyes and the taste buds. Learn to make a potato, spinach and morel terrine complemented by a grapefruit and sprout salad. Finish the meal with delicious strawberry cake. Call (330) 740-7116 to register. Melnick Museum
Through April: The works of Charles Eliot, landscape artist from Boston. Volney Rogers hired him, and Eliot was influential in the early designs of roads and paths around Lake Cohasset.
FAMILY DINING
Through March: 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday buffet. The Georgetown announces the return of the Sunday Buffet in the Garden Cafe. Reservations are not necessary. Fee: $11.95 adults, $10.95 seniors, $8.95 children 12 and under.
