VINDICATOR STAFF REPORT
MENTOR -- As expected, Fitch High sophomore Tony Jameson came through the Division I district wrestling tournament unscathed.
Perhaps unexpected was that he was joined by two others.
Jameson was one of seven area wrestlers to advance to the state tournament -- and one of four Falcons -- Saturday at Mentor High School.
Jameson, now 39-0, defeated his rival, Massillon Jackson's Dante Rini, 12-4, to win the 119-pound title.
Also advancing to Columbus as district champions were: Howland's Steve Wall (38-2), who defeated Sam Nighman of Painesville Riverside, 3-2, in the final of the 125-pound class; and Boardman's Justin Powell (37-1), who won the 215-pound title with a 6-0 defeat of Uniontown Lake's Tyler Rasho.
Those three champions will be joined in Columbus by: Fitch's JJ Pankewicz (37-8), the runner-up at 160 pounds; Nick Bodnar (37-4), who finished third at 140; and Nick Kuti (32-13), who was fourth at 189.
Also advancing was Howland's Kyle Gantz (33-5), who was fourth at 215.
