Authorities probe 2 new cases of arson

YOUNGSTOWN -- After a two-week lull in arsons on the North Side, two houses were intentionally set ablaze, the fire department said Thursday.
At 12:38 a.m. Thursday, firefighters were sent to 171 Tod Lane and found the two-story house fully engulfed in flames.
At 12:54 a.m. Thursday, crews were sent to 55 Bissell Ave. and found heavy fire on the first floor of the two-story structure.
Both houses were a total loss.
Capt. Alvin Ware has said he suspects a pyromaniac may be responsible for a string of fires on the North Side.
Earlier this month, firefighters responded to three fires set within minutes of one another at 19 Tacoma Ave., 42 Indiana Ave. and 44 Illinois Ave.
Anyone with information about an arson is encouraged to call (330) 782-0055. Tipsters can receive up to a $5,000 reward.
