Police say 2 men ignored orders and ran

AUSTINTOWN -- Two men are facing charges after police say they ignored orders at a traffic stop and police chased them into a bar on Mahoning Avenue.
Driver Jonathan Brown, 38, 66 N. Hartford Ave., Youngstown, and his passenger John Zalovcik, 59 N. Hartford Ave., Youngstown, were to appear in Mahoning County Court No. 4 today at 9 a.m.
Brown faces charges of drug abuse cocaine, a felony; possession of a dangerous drug, a misdemeanor; and driving under suspension, a misdemeanor, according to a township police report.
Zalovcik was given a summons for failure to comply, the report says.
Police said that when an officer tried to stop Brown on Saturday at 1:46 a.m. for an equipment violation, he and Zalovcik ignored orders not to leave their car, and both went into Pete and Charlie's Pub.
The officer saw Brown throw a sandwich bag into a garbage can, which he retrieved. It was found to contain suspected marijuana and cocaine, the report said.
