YOUNGSTOWN Police investigate 3-car crash that injured several people



The drivers of two cars told police they had the green light.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Several people injured in a three-car crash Sunday afternoon at state Route 625 and Erie Street were transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center and Beeghly Medical Park emergency departments.
Information on the extent of the victims' injuries was not available Sunday night. The crash occurred at 3:34 p.m.
According to Youngstown police, a car driven by Crystal L. Harper, 41, of Spearman Avenue, Farrell, Pa., was westbound on Route 625 stopped for the traffic light at Erie.
A second vehicle, driven by Danita M. Anderson, 35, of Hilton Avenue, was northbound on Erie approaching Route 625, and the third vehicle involved, driven by Alexis R. Giansante, 21, of East Midlothian Boulevard, was eastbound on Route 625 approaching Erie.
Anderson and Giansante, both believing they had the green light, drove into the intersection, and Giansante's car was struck by Anderson's car. After the crash, Giansante's car veered left and hit Harper's vehicle in the front and came to rest in a vacant lot at the northeast corner of the intersection.
Treated for injuries
According to police, Harper and two passengers in her car, Halston and Zion Harper, ages 13 and 6, were taken to St. Elizabeth's for treatment. However, hospital officials said they were not admitted.
Anderson and a passenger in her car, Steven D. Brown, 28, of Trussit Avenue, were transported to Beeghly Medical Park's emergency department for treatment. Information on the seriousness of their injuries was not available Sunday night.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash to determine if charges will be filed.
