AUSTINTOWN -- C.S.I.-Y'town, a group of local lovers of mystery, will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at the Austintown branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, Raccoon Road. Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, Trumbull County coroner, will be the guest presenter.

PENINSULA -- Blue Heron Bookstore, 1593 Main St. (on state Route 303 between Riverview and Akron-Peninsula roads) will host a fireside chat with author Janaya Black from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Black will discuss her first book, "Breaking Point," the story of reporter Vanessa Jackson, who while on assignment at the Wayne County Women's Correctional Facility, finds there is more to the story of a convicted husband-killer then meets the eye.
Railroad program
BRECKSVILLE -- Discover the dangers, despair, love and triumphs of the Underground Railroad on Saturday during "Storytelling: Lessons in the Underground Railroad." The journey will begin at the Brecksville Station of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and will conclude at Blue Heron Bookstore, 1593 Main St., Peninsula. Two trips are planned, with departure set for 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. There is a 60 passenger limited for each. Reservations are $10 per person and may be made through CVSR, (800) 468-4070. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served at the bookstore following the event.
Book signing
NILES-- Brian K. West of Youngstown will sign copies of his book, "The Method Eight II: The Messenger" (AuthorHouse) from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Borders Books, 2102 Niles-Cortland Road (behind the Eastwood Mall).
In "Method Eight," West sets forth the basics of his theory/philosophy about the mind and time travel, which he established in 1999, and explains why it is important, how it is possible, and why it is needed. He divides the work into three sections: Brian's Theory, the Message, and the Last Test of Man (The Last Testament).
