Hanson's 1st hat trick propels SteelHounds

Youngstown is 4-0 this season against Fort Worth.
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Matt Hanson's first professional hat trick propelled the Youngstown SteelHounds to a 4-2 victory Friday over the Fort Worth Brahmas.
Jeff Christian set up three of the Hounds' goals.
The SteelHounds, who are 15 points behind Wichita in the race for the Central Hockey League's Eastern Conference final wild-card berth, are 4-2 on their current eight-game road trip and 4-0 this season versus the Brahmas (13-27-7).
Fast start
The SteelHounds started quickly as they scored 1:48 into the opening frame, just one second shy of the fastest goal in team history.
Hanson, a defenseman, scored the goal, his second of the year. Christian assisted to extend his point streak to eight straight games (8-9=17).
The Brahmas came back quickly, taking advantage of a scramble in front of goaltender David St. Germain. Defenseman Ryan Fairbarn scored his ninth goal of the season assisted by Wes Mason and Beau McLaughlin at the 4:27 mark tying the game at one.
Sloppy was the word that described the second period as both teams struggled to get any flow.
The only goal of the period came on a two-man advantage by the Brahmas with Mason scoring by jamming the puck by the left skate of St. Germain for his 18th goal. He was assisted by Fairbarn and Vladimir Hartinger at the 13:39 mark of the period.
Big comeback
The SteelHounds made a big comeback in the third period, scoring three times.
The Hounds tied it up at the 1:36 mark with a power-play goal by Hanson assisted by Darryl Lloyd and Chris Shaffer.
The Hounds took the lead, once again on the power play, with Hanson capping off the big night with his third goal. Christian and Joey Sewell drew the assists.
Sewell added an empty-net goal, his ninth of the season with less than a second remaining.
Youngstown outshot the Brahmas 27-21, firing off 14 shots in the final period. St. Germain (14-20-2) made 19 saves and improved to 3-0 versus the Brahmas.
The road trip continues for the Hounds tonight with a game against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Face-off is scheduled for 8:35 p.m.
