Criminal justice programs receive grants
YOUNGSTOWN -- Criminal justice and victims programs in Mahoning and Trumbull counties have been awarded more than $114,000 in grants from Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services in conjunction with the federal Violence Against Woman Act grant program.
Annual awards go to projects that address crimes against women by assisting local governments in strengthening law enforcement, prosecution and services.
OCJS is the lead justice planning and assistance agency for the state.
Local grant recipients are as follows:
Someplace Safe Inc., Warren, $29,744 for legal advocacy and shelter services.
The Solace Center, Warren, $11,678.40 for visitation program.
Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office, Youngstown, $27,300 for a county Violence Against Women Justice Unit.
Burdman Group Inc., Youngstown, $45,600 for a county outreach project.
