WARREN -- The field got plenty crowded in the Democratic primary to replace James Tsagaris as Trumbull County commissioner, as two more filers this week brought the number of candidates to six.
Former Warren City Council President Joe H. Williams of Chevelle Drive S.E. and political unknown Ted Harrell of Warren added their names to the four who had filed nominating petitions previously.
The other four are Girard Mayor James Melfi, Niles Councilman Frank Fuda, Warren Councilman Robert Marchese and Warren restaurateur Mauro Cantalamessa. One Republican will be running, Niki Frenchko of Warren.
Harrell served in the U.S. Army for more than eight years as an air traffic controller. He now works as a bio-environmental engineer technician at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna. He is also a dispatcher for Newton Falls Police Department.

Another candidate who filed this week was Arno A. Hill of Palmyra Road S.W., Lordstown. Hill, who served as Lordstown mayor for 10 years until 2003, and won election to Lordstown council in November, submitted petitions to run in the Republican primary for the 65th House seat held by Democrat Sandra Stabile Harwood. Hill and Stabile Harwood are the only candidates in that race.
Hill would give up his council seat if he wins this November. He is a retired Delphi Packard Electric tool and die maker and now works part time as a tow-motor driver.
Hill said he believes his record of achievement as mayor shows his ability to get things done, especially in relation to the tax abatement that was secured to help bring the Cobalt to GM's Lordstown Assembly Complex.
He feels it is time that the 65th District was "a little more noticed" at the state level. "If anything, we've gone backward," he said.
Other areas of the state have made comebacks, such as Columbus and Akron, Hill said, adding, "We've got to try to do something more."
