WARREN Child car seat inspection set at dealership

The main goal of the week is a reminder about responsibility.
WARREN -- A free child car seat inspection by a safety specialist at Diane Sauer Chevrolet, 700 Niles Road S.E., will conclude the year's annual local observance of Child Passenger Safety Week.
The event, sponsored by the dealership, Forum Health Tod Children's Hospital, Mahoning Valley Safe Kids Coalition, and Ohio Buckles Buckeyes, is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. A reservation is required and can be made by calling (330) 884-4031.
According to a study by Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, children ages 4 to 8 who use booster seats are 59 percent less likely to be injured in a car crash than children who are restrained only by a safety belt.
The primary goal this year of Child Passenger Safety Week, Feb. 12-18, is to remind parents and other adults about their responsibility for traveling with children in motor vehicles.
One of those responsibilities is to have booster seats for small children. Only an estimated 10 percent to 20 percent of children ages 4 to 8 use booster seats, safety officials said.
