The Mahoning County Children Services Board discussed these items Tuesday:
Many of the 2005 adoptions finalized were sibling adoptions. Ten new adoptions were started, and 20 were finalized. Of the 20 finalized, two families adopted four siblings each, one family adopted three siblings, and two families adopted two siblings each.The agency is working with about 358 families and makes about 73 court appearances per month in juvenile court. Court hearings are sometimes held on Saturdays.The Swanson Trust, owner of the group home that houses Children Services children in residential care at 246 Broadway on the North Side, is purchasing the adjacent property at 242 Broadway to give the children a secure play area. Officials said the only play area at 246 Broadway is the front yard. The property at 242 will be cleared and fenced in, and a basketball hoop and playground equipment added.
