AROUND THE NBA Tuesday's games
Pistons 85, Nets 71
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Chauncey Billups had 19 points and 10 assists to help Detroit in the last game before the All-Star break. Richard Hamilton added 18 points and Ben Wallace had 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Pistons (42-9). Rasheed Wallace had 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to help Detroit win for the third time in four games. Richard Jefferson led the Nets with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Vince Carter scored 13. Jason Kidd had all 10 of his points in the first half and matched his season-low with three assists. The Pistons outscored the Nets 26-11 in the third quarter to turn a six-point halftime lead into a rout.
Bucks 106, SuperSonics 91
MILWAUKEE -- Michael Redd scored 19 points and Joe Smith added 18 to help the Bucks. Bobby Simmons had 15 points for Milwaukee, which has won six straight home games. Rashard Lewis scored 25 points and Ray Allen, who played six seasons with the Bucks, added 19 for the Sonics. It was the sixth loss in seven games for Seattle. It was the second time Allen had played in Milwaukee since being traded on Feb. 20, 2003 with Ronald Murray to Seattle for Gary Payton and Desmond Mason. In his first trip back to Milwaukee last season, Allen scored 16 points, shooting only 4-for-16 from the field.
Heat 107, Magic 93
MIAMI -- Dwyane Wade scored 38 points and the Heat shot 58 percent from the field in a win over the Magic, who lost their fifth straight game. Wade, who scored Miami's final 17 points Sunday in a comeback win over Detroit, again finished strong in less dramatic circumstances. He scored nine straight Heat points to give them a 101-85 lead with three minutes left. Wade shot 13-for-20 for the Heat, who won despite 20 turnovers to seven for Orlando. Shaquille O'Neal had 25 points and 11 rebounds for the Heat, who hope to take advantage of a soft stretch in the schedule. Beginning with Tuesday's victory, the Heat play 22 of their final 31 games against teams with losing records.
