Capital 66, Mount Union 58
COLUMBUS -- Jake Meisler had 22 points and Nate Stahl and Steve Kyser added 14 apiece to lead Capital. The victory clinched a spot in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament for the Crusaders (10-12, 7-9). Kyle Karpinski scored 15 points and Chris Switzer had 10 for Mount Union (5-18, 4-12).
Baldwin-Wallace 82, Muskingum 73
NEW CONCORD -- Tori Davis had 39 points and 11 rebounds to lead Baldwin-Wallace to its first outright Ohio Athletic Conference title in 27 years. Davis' huge game included 11-of-16 shooting from the field, 17-of-21 free throws, four blocks and an assist. The Yellow Jackets (21-2, 15-1), whose last outright OAC title came in 1979, also picked up 19 points from Keith Aufmuth and 10 by Dan Gundert. Brandon Todd scored 17 points, Trevor Scott 16, Cole Pittis had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Zach Ross added 12 points for the Muskies (15-7, 11-5).
Allegheny 77, Denison 61
GRANVILLE -- Casey McCloskey scored 21 points -- including four during a pivotal 13-1 first-half run -- to lead Allegheny. McCloskey had all but three of his points as the Gators (10-12, 6-8 North Coast Conference) rolled to a 48-33 lead at the half. Ben Torsney scored 20 points and made 10-of-11 field-goal attempts, with Matt Majzlik adding 12 points. Dan Hodgkinson led Denison (10-13, 6-8) with 29 points.
Wittenberg 91, Hiram 52
HIRAM -- Daniel Russ scored 16 points and Wittenberg shot 60 percent from the field in beating Hiram. Dane Borchers added 13 points, Kenny Brady had 12 and Trent Bailey 10 for the Tigers (21-2, 12-2 North Coast Conference). Wittenberg led 42-21 at the half while hitting 67 percent (16 of 24) of its field-goal attempts, including 3-of-5 3-pointers. The Tigers shot 55 percent from the field in the second half. Chuck Williams scored 11 points and Michael McDevitt (Lisbon) had 10 for Hiram (3-20, 1-13), which was outrebounded 35-26 and hit 40 percent of its field goals.
Westminster 100, Thomas More 92
CRESTVIEW, Ky. -- Sophomore guard Craig Hannon (New Castle/Union High School) made seven 3-pointers and 24 points in all to lead the Titans (8-15, 5-5 Presidents' Athletic Conference). Hannon also pulled down seven rebounds and made seven of his 12 3-point attempts. Also scoring in double digits were senior guard Mark DeMonaco (New Castle/New Castle High) with 17 points, junior guard Greg Rosatelli with 14, sophomore forward Chauncey Whitlow (Youngstown/Wilson High) with 13 and sophomore forward Nick Adams with 10. DeMonaco dished out five assists. Wednesday, the Titans will travel to Greenville, Pa., to play Thiel.
Slippery Rock 93, Lock Haven 83
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Five Rock players reached double figures as SRU's school record 21-game losing streak came to an end. Jamar Scales led the Rock with 22 points, followed by Brandon Tompson, 16; Dejan Jancoc, 11; Corey Nesser, 10; and Joseph Vines, 10. Wednesday, SRU (2-22, 1-8 PSAC-West) will be home against Clarion.
WOMEN
Slippery Rock 58, Lock Haven 39
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- North Canton Hoover graduate Kelly Staudinger scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds in the romp. The Rock jumped out to a 12-0 lead and never looked back. Angela Greaser and Amanda Chojnacki each scored nine points for SRU (12-12, 4-5 Presidents Athletic Conference).
Thomas More 61, Westminster 39
CRESTVIEW, Ky. -- Alex Gee scored 24 points to lead the Saints. For the Titans (6-17, 3-7 PAC), Emilee Ackerman scored nine points.
Capital 60, Mount Union 55
ALLIANCE -- Alicia Williams scored 18 points for the Purple Raiders (12-11, 7-9 OAC) but it wasn't enough against visiting Capital (20-3, 13-3 OAC). Kyla Hogan scored 16 points while guard Ellie Geiger (West Branch High) made three assists and a steal.
Waynesburg 78, Grove City 61
WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's basketball team fell to 7-16 overall and 3-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. The defeat snaps Grove City's 22-game winning streak against Waynesburg. Sophomore forward Rachel McCoy (East Liverpool/Beaver Local High) led Grove City with 23 points and 13 rebounds. It is her seventh double-double of the season and her sixth straight game with double-digit points. Freshman forward Mallory Skarupa made her first career start and contributed eight points and five rebounds.
Wooster 65, Hiram 58
WOOSTER -- Junior Cassie Bedard posted her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 boards. Junior Michelle Kozempa scored 10 points. Classmate Abbey Gorby (East Palestine) and freshman Shaneka Jackson each scored eight. Kozempa also recorded seven rebounds. Freshman Stephanie Zunic (Canfield) made five assists while Jackson had four steals. The Terriers are now 8-13 overall and 3-11 in the NCAC. They host Chatham College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Geneva 74, Point Park 63
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Allyson Clarke scored 19 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for the Golden Tornadoes (14-8, 11-4 AMC North). Jen Rawding led Geneva in scoring with 24 points. Megan Gallagher scored 12. Point Park is 3-18, 2-18.
Allegheny 61, Denison 57
GRANVILLE -- Allegheny College (16-8, 12-3 NCAC) took a firm grip on the second seed for the NCAC tournament by defeating Denison University (18-5, 10-4 NCAC). The Gators are now a game and a half up on Denison with one game to play in the season for Allegheny and two for the Big Red. Jennifer Latronica scored a team-high 11 points off of the bench while Courtney Steding added 10 points.
Washington & amp; Jefferson 85, Thiel 79
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Despite five players finishing with double figures, the Thiel College women's basketball team suffered a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) defeat. Junior forward Nicole Valentino (Sharon/Sharon High) finished with a season-high 24 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists for the Tomcats (7-16, 5-5). Freshman guard Diana Schell added a career-high 16 points while freshman forward Amber Bodrick (Boardman/Mooney) finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four steals. Senior guard Heather Abate (Kittanning/Ford City) tallied 12 points, five rebounds and four assists while junior forward Fontella Jones (Farrell/Farrell) chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds. Amanda Stanonik had career highs in both points (32) and rebounds (16) for the Presidents (18-4, 8-2), while Leigh Sulkowski added 20 points.
