Springfield cruises to 11th victory
McDonald beat Sebring in another Inter-County League game.
NORTH JACKSON -- Five players scored in double figures as the Springfield High boys basketball team upended Jackson-Milton, 90-43, Tuesday in a Inter-County League contest.
The Tigers (11-2, 8-1) rushed out to a 29-12 lead in the first quarter and increased that margin to 51-18 by intermission.
Dan Dobson paced the Tigers' balanced attack with 13 points. Zach DeJane added 12, while Mike Kampfer and Andy Schuler each had 11 and Bob Rogers finished with 10.
Josh Barringer sparked the Bluejays (1-13, 0-8) with 11 points.
McDonald 63, Sebring 30
MCDONALD -- Bradley Hinton and Steven Hughes combined to out-score the Trojans.
Hinton scored 18 points, Hughes had 14 and Andy Timko poured in 13 for the Blue Devils (9-5, 6-3).
Jon Springer scored 10 points for the Trojans (6-8, 3-6), who fell behind 32-9 at the break.
Leetonia 55, Lisbon 49
LISBON -- Aaron Valentine scored 13 points in a Tri-County League game for Leetonia, which reached the eight-win mark for the first time since the 1992-93 season.
Corey Rauschenbach had 12 points, Jon Williams had 10 and Josh Selway had nine points and eight rebounds for Leetonia (8-7, 4-5), which outscored the Blue Devils 36-27 in the second half.
Marcus Judy had 23 points for Lisbon (5-9, 4-5), while Tim McClester had eight rebounds.
East Palestine 51, United 46
EAST PALESTINE -- Tom Powers scored 22 points, including six 3-point goals, while Dan Hanholt had 16 points with six rebounds to lead East Palestine (9-4, 7-2).
Jack Figley had four assists for the Bulldogs, who continued tied with Crestview for the TCL lead.
Brandon Kekel had 11 points and as many rebounds and Dan Shaffer 10 points to lead United (4-9, 3-6). Tyler Boyle added six points and six assists and Rob Muhleman five steals and four points.
Crestview 67, Columbiana 49
COLUMBIANA -- Travis Gustafson scored 21 points and Tony Amabile added 18 for Crestview (10-4, 6-2), which took a 33-23 halftime lead.
Andrew Kestner added 10 points in the win.
Deric Graft had 20 points for Columbiana (3-12, 1-8) and Morgan Hart had six points, seven rebounds and seven blocks. Cory Guy had seven points and five assists.
Wellsville 56, Southern 47
SALINEVILLE -- Zane Carter scored 17 points and Josh Lyle added 15 as Wellsville toppled Southern.
Wellsville (11-3, 6-3) jumped out to a 35-22 halftime lead and then held off Southern in the second half.
Dan DeSellam paced Southern (9-6, 4-5) with 14 points.
