Planning meeting set for World Youth Day

YOUNGSTOWN -- Young adults from 18 (by June 1, 2008) to 35 may attend an information and planning meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 8 concerning a diocesan pilgrimage in July 2008 to Sydney, Australia.
The international gathering "World Youth Day," will be the topic of session to be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 833 39th St. N.W., Canton.
World Youth Day provides an opportunity for young Catholics to celebrate faith with peers from all over the world in prayer, catechetical sessions, informal gatherings, and concerts.
In 1984, Pope John Paul II invited young adults from all over the world to pray with him in Rome. The Diocese of Youngstown has sent delegations to the last two gatherings.
The theme for the 2008 WYD is "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses." (Acts 1:8).
