YOUNGSTOWN -- The Jewish Community Center offers Transitions, a 12-week course that incorporates low glycemic eating with exercise and stress management techniques, on Mondays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. beginning Jan. 8. Crisis center honored
YOUNGSTOWN -- Help Hotline Crisis Center's suicide prevention service was named one of the top performers for the third quarter of 2006 out of 120 hotlines in the country connected to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network. Help Hotline, also a surge center that receives additional calls when there is high traffic in the network, was recognized in the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline newsletter. Help Hotline is a contract agency of the Mahoning County Mental Health Board, the Mahoning County Alcohol and Addiction Services Board, and the Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Board. Individuals seeking help can dial toll-free (800)273-8255.
Clinics get grant
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Trustmark Foundation of Trustmark Insurance Companies has given a 10,000 grant to the Ohio North Health Systems, 726 Wick Ave., which operates clinics in Youngstown, Warren and Alliance.
Yoga offering
YOUNGSTOWN -- Beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, will begin a yoga program specially designed for seniors who participate in the SilverSneakers & reg; program, a free health and wellness program for older adults with Anthem Senior Advantage, Medicare Preferred, and Blue Access PPO, Humana Gold Choice and Choice PPO insurance plans.
