Liberty man will be county tourism director



YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning County commissioners have hired Phil T. Moore of Liberty as director of the county's convention and visitors bureau effective Jan. 8 at a starting annual salary of 57,500.
Andrew Hamady of Poland, vice president of the new 11-member CVB board, which met for the first time in June, said Moore was selected from 120 applicants, 10 of whom were interviewed by telephone and three in person.
Most recently, Moore, who was hired Friday, has served as interim communications director at Forum Health and business development director for the Innis Maggiore advertising agency of Canfield.
He is fluent in Spanish, having previously been vice president of a large ad agency in Spain.
He received his bachelor's degree in marketing and communications from Georgia State University.
His background includes tourism promotion in West Virginia, Florida, Spain and Germany.
