Hubbard pulls past Harding



Mooney defeated Canton Central Catholic for its fifth straight victory.
HUBBARD -- Sophie Paddock scored 24 points and the Hubbard High girls basketball team used a 20-10 first quarter lead to take control against Warren Harding, defeating the Raiders 66-57 on Saturday.
Tressa Scahill added 11 points and Cara Julian had 10 for the Eagles (6-2).
Aundrea Baldridge had 20 points and Kamela Bender scored 19 for the Raiders.
Beaver Local 63, Wilson 37
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mallory Yajko scored 28 points and eight other players contributed points to pace the Beavers (10-2).
Whitli Sanders scored 16 points and Marcinde North had 11 more for Wilson (1-9).
Beaver Local scored 21 points in the first quarter then built a 34-18 lead by the break.
Mooney 43,Canton Central Catholic 38
YOUNGSTOWN -- Sarah Pelini scored 11 points and Katie Griswold added 10 as the Cardinals (6-2) won for the fifth straight time.
With Mooney clutching a 32-31 lead after three quarters, Griswold scored seven points in the final eight minutes.
Pelini rebounded 12 times.
The Crusaders are 3-7.
Struthers 47, Springfield 35
STRUTHERS -- Ashley Galbraith scored 14 points to lead Struthers, which took a 26-14 halftime lead.
Dana Mathews added nine points for Struthers (3-4).
Rachel Kennedy had eight points and 10 rebounds to lead Springfield (4-5).
West Branch 50, Independence 34
GARFIELD HEIGHTS -- Amanda Stiffler and Cassi Snoddy each scored 10 points to lead West Branch in the Garfield Heights Christmas Tournament.
Southeast 58, Newton Falls 36
RAVENNA -- Erikka Coonts made four 3-pointers en route to 17 points, while Lindsay Speidel had 15 and Mya Levels added 11 for Southeast (9-0).
Emily Montgomery scored 11 to lead Newton Falls.
