Police investigate shooting, burglary
A man was also charged with robbery.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are investigating a shooting and a burglary that took place in the city Thursday, and they arrested a man on a robbery charge.
A 16-year-old male was shot in the chest at 6 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of East Ravenwood Avenue on the city's South Side.
Police said the victim had no idea who would shoot him or why. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he was reported in critical condition late Thursday night.
Robbery
Police charged a man with one count of aggravated robbery after he was suspected of robbing an 80-year-old man at 7:35 p.m. in front of 3363 Zedaker Ave., also on the South Side.
Police said Christopher Williams, 19, of Detroit Avenue was seen by a witness grabbing the victim's cell phone and keys. Police said Williams was armed with a handgun, and a female witness said she thought a few shots were fired.
Williams is in the Mahoning County Jail awaiting his arraignment today in municipal court.
Police are tracking down leads in an aggravated burglary at 1 a.m. Thursday on Berwick Avenue.
Police reports say two men broke a window and entered the East Side house while the victim was upstairs sleeping.
They ransacked the victim's house, then entered the garage, and in the process, they broke a window and destroyed the door frame and door track.
The men drove away with the victim's 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, along with various credit cards, the victim's driver's license, Social Security card, checkbook, house keys and 50.
