SCOUTS
Eric M. Cottrell, 16, son of Denny and Angie Cottrell of Mineral Ridge, received his Eagle Scout Award at a court of honor at Our Lady of Lebanon National Shrine in North Jackson.
Eric is a member of Greater Western Reserve Council Troop 85, and his scoutmaster is Fred Piersol.
Eric began Scouting as a Tiger Cub with Cub Scout Pack 83 in 1996. In 2001 he earned his Arrow of Light and joined Troop 85. Eric has served as the troop's librarian and historian and has earned 21 merit badges.
His Eagle Scout Project consisted of building two picnic tables and two benches for the Community Garden at Seaborn Elementary School.
Eric is a junior at Mineral Ridge High School, and has participated in football, weightlifting, Frosty Frolics, Escapades and Relay for Life.
Eric is an avid archery and gun hunter. He has taken deer, turkey and coyotes.
