The contribution represents proceeds from a league Christmas project.
BOARDMAN -- Two important events took place at a holiday social held by Boardman-Poland Junior Women's League on Dec. 4 at Johnny's Restaurant.
The installation of officers, who will head the league during the 2007 season, was held. Linda Fabian served as installing officer for Lynn Mickey, who will be president of the organization, and her associate officers, Stacey Grishow, vice president; Valerie Lilko, second vice president; Margaret Cherol, treasurer; Bethann Zoldan, recording secretary; and Linda Crish, corresponding secretary.
Also on the agenda was the presentation of a check for 4,000 to Liz McGarry of Hospice of the Valley. The funds, which were raised by the league through a "Countdown to Christmas" project, will be used to support Hospice programs.
The next meeting of the league is scheduled for Jan. 8 at Glenellen Assisted Living, where plans will be made for the organization to host the Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs Legislation Day on March 10.
Membership in the league is available to women over 18 who are residents of Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties and are interested in friendship, fun and community involvement.
The league provides a creative outlet for women interested in providing community service in areas of arts, conservation, education, home life, international affairs and public affairs.
